Preparing for your birth
As your due date approaches, preparing for your birth and what’s to come can feel daunting, but it doesn’t need to be.
Preparing for the birth can help you to feel more relaxed and comfortable during your labour, ready for any unexpected circumstances, and provide you with coping strategies to allow you to have more control over your environment.
What is birth preparation?
Birth preparation can include a variety of aspects including:
Birth Delivery options
Including vaginal birth, caesarean section
(c section) and assisted delivery.
Signs of going into Labour
Understanding the signs you’re going into labour can help you to manage labour at home until you’re ready to go the hospital and make you feel more in control and at ease.
Writing a Birth Plan
Birth plans can help midwives understand who you are quickly, the type of labour and delivery you hope for, pain relief you do and don’t want, what your thoughts are on the delivery of your placenta and your golden hour with your newborn baby. Essentially everything you would want in ideal circumstances and what you most definitely do not want. Whilst birth plans don’t always go to plan, they are a great guide and help foster conversations in relation to your main needs and desires.
Pain Relief during Labour
Theres a variety of different pain relief options available including gas and air, epidural, tens machine, pethidine, water birth, and self-help techniques.
Hospital Bag Checklist
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed packing your hospital bag. We can go through what to pack, what are essentials and what are some special extras.
I have over 18 years of experience, working across all areas of birthing experiences from home births to high risk labour wards. I love it! Its just inside of me. A passion that has burned throughout me for as long as I can remember. It comes naturally to me and for this I am so grateful.

How can I support you?
I can help prepare you for your birth and teach you all about the different choices you may be presented with whilst ensuring you are mentally prepared for your journey from birth to motherhood. Birth can and should be a positive experience regardless of events. You deserve to feel great, empowered and prepared for what is to come.
